Eshott Hall, Northumberland
Eshott Hall, a fine 17th century estate in Northumberland, was part of the first ‘enabling developments’ in the region, commencing in 1998. Southern Green was involved in the restoration of formal lawns, entrance drive, ornamental shrubberies and courtyards around the Hall, all of which complemented the restored Hall which was transformed into a boutique hotel.
A new vision ‘defining the next decade’ was developed in 2008 which extended the restoration works as part of a new enabling project which allowed for expansion of the village. Working with Simpson and Brown, Southern Green prepared a landscape masterplan for the estate sensitively integrating new housing around a new village green and restoring the former carriage drive as a route to the Hall, as well as other features such as lakes, walks and planting.
