The Southern Green team toasted their success with Middlesbrough Council at the Constructing Excellence in the North East Awards last week.  Stewart Park was awarded 'Highly Commended' in the Heritage category, adding another accolade to the awards already achieved.

Stewart Park in Middlesbrough, the birthplace of Captain Cook, was restored thanks to nearly £8m funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Middlesbrough Council.  The restoration was completed in 2012.

We are thrilled to announce that the Henry Bolckow Centre has been named winner of a 2013 RICS North East Renaissance Award in the category 'Building Conservation'.  This recognizes the work of a large multi-disciplinary team led by Southern Green as part of the HLF restoration of Stewart Park.  The Henry Bockow Centre was a major part of this and was completed last year.  The architectural work was designed and managed by Napper Architects and carried out by Lumsden & Carroll on behalf of our client, Middlesbrough Council.  The centre now includes a Vocational Training Centre and cafe and has brought back into use a range of Grade II Listed former stable yard buildings which now have a variety of community uses.
A big congratulations to everyone involved!

The HLF funded Ouseburn Parks project was 'Highly Commended' at the annual Landscape Institute Awards in the 'Heritage and Conservation' category.  We're thrilled that almost a decade of hard work with Newcastle City Council, friends, volunteers, and many others has ended on such a high!

Thanks to all those who attended our 15th anniversary celebration - it was lovely!

We've just found this video and think it's great:

Ahead of this weekend’s Great North Run, JesmondLocal went for a jog with local runner Simon Zabrocki to create this short film on why pounding the paths of Jesmond Dene is such a popular and special pastime

Take a look yourself and see why Jesmond Dene is such a great park for runners!

Southern Green is about to commence work on detailed design and delivery for this HLF park restoration project in Newcastle Upon Tyne.  Having previously helped the Exhibition and Brandling Parks Community Trust prepare a successful First Round funding bid, we're delighted to be working alongside EBPCT and Newcastle City Council again.

Once the site of the 1929 North East Coast Exhibition, Exhibition Park remains an important recreational space in the city, with a rich heritage.

We are all thrilled to have been notified that the Ouseburn Parks restoration project has been recognised at this year's Landscape Institute Awards.

The project will either be a 'Winner' or 'Highly Commended' - either way, we're extremely proud that ten years of team work has paid off!
