Southern Green and The Sport, Leisure and Culture Consultancy (SLC) were appointed by Watford Borough Council to develop masterplan options for Woodside Playing Fields. Formerly a country estate, the park benefits from mature parkland trees and the locally listed stable block complex.
The feasibility study identified the stable block as an ideal location for a new Community Sports Hub. The hub will accommodate a mix of sports clubs (cricket, football, boxing etc.) as well as a new cafe. Proposals for other revenue-generating options include the installation of new 3G sports pitches, adventure golf, a high ropes course, wheeled sports tracks, play areas, sensory gardens and an alternative use for the indoor bowls centre. The masterplan will enhance the parkland setting and also improve the site infrastructure with new circulation routes and improved car parking facilities.
